  7. The PCSS-8H is the versatile PC compatible serial interface card that
  8. supports eight separate RS-232 devices for input and output. The PCSS-8H is
  9. capable of addressing each UART separately and mapping each UART into the I/O
  10. address map of the standard DOC COM1: and COM2: communication channels. This
  11. unique feature provides the PCSS-8H with DOS compatibility on all eight ports.
  12. In fact, all of the ports are 100 percent compatible right down to the
  13. handshake lines. Furthermore, by using an on- board interrupt controller, only
  14. one interrupt line is used by the PCSS-8H, thereby allowing up to 32 ports per
  15. computer. The PCSS-8H is supplied with utility programs that permit easy
  16. command line port switching and an enhanced BIOS INT 14 device driver that
  17. allows simultaneous interrupt driven operation on all ports with automatic
  18. handshaking. Example programs, with source code, are furnished in Quick Basic+
  19. to demonstrate the PCSS-8H's ease of use with the INT 14 device driver. The
  20. individual addressability of each UART allows the PCSS-8H to be used with
  21. existing applications or operating systems such as Microport UNIX and SCO
  22. XENIX. The bracket assembly provided with the PCSS-8H, housing eight
  23. IBM-compatible DB25P connectors, attaches securely to the rear panel of a PC-AT
  24. or PC-XT. It does not interfere with the limited I/O area behind the computer's
  25. card slot and eliminates the unsightly cabling mess associated with many
  26. multiport cards on the market. Optional RS422 interfaces allow communications
  27. at distances of up to 4000 feet. An upgradable 4-port version, the PCSS-4H is
  28. also available.
